FAQs

Can Huntington Health Center help me with my problem?

A doctor of chiropractic (D.C.) in our office will perform an examination to help diagnose the cause of your problem. This will determine if chiropractic treatment can help you. Our doctor will then explain your diagnosis and recommend short-term treatment options. If it is discovered that you require attention from a medical doctor, we will refer you to the appropriate medical specialist, such as a neurologist, neurosurgeon, orthopedic surgeon, pain specialist, etc.

Do I have to have x-rays or have an MRI?

X-rays and MRIs are sometimes but not always necessary to make a diagnosis or rule out certain conditions. This decision is made on an individual basis, based on a patient’s age, examination and findings. For our patient’s convenience, we have a diagnostic facility that we can refer you to if you do not already have an option.

What kind of treatments do you use?

Chiropractors are best known for using spinal manipulation or adjustments. However in addition to manipulation, we at Huntington Health Center employ a variety of other treatments including: soft tissue therapies (such as myofascial release, Graston, Active Release Therapy), physiotherapy modalities (such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation), and therapeutic exercise (such as McKenzie Therapy, flexibility, or strength training).

How many treatments will I need? Will this be short-term treatment?

The nature and severity of your condition, age or other health variables, and length of time that symptoms have persisted will be determining factors. Some conditions can resolve in very few treatments, and a specific treatment plan is developed for each individual patient. We offer treatment that teaches patients how to prevent and self-treat future episodes of pain, thus also helping to enhance recovery and treatment time. Note: We do not offer “long-term treatment plans” as you may have encountered in other offices.

What insurance plans do we accept?

We accept most health insurance plans, Medicare and automobile med-pay. Please call and we can answer any questions regarding insurance.

I am in pain now, how long will I have to wait to get an appointment?

Generally we are able to schedule an appointment for our new and current patients the same day. Walk-ins are also welcome.
